Motorola’s Vice President, Dan Dery, confirmed that the company is venturing into the world of foldable smartphones, with a release expected later this year. While specifics remain under wraps, Dery hinted at a design reminiscent of the iconic Razr phone.

Exclusive Insights from XDA Developers

Inside sources at XDA Developers have uncovered some key details about this secretive project. Code-named “Voyager,” the Motorola foldable phone is set to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 System on a Chip (SoC), Motorola’s choice for a perfect blend of performance and efficiency.

The Snapdragon 710 SoC Unveiled

The Snapdragon 710 SoC boasts eight CPU cores utilizing Qualcomm’s custom Kryo 360 architecture. Among these cores, two ARM Cortex-A75 cores will clock at 2.2GHz, while the remaining six cores are ARM Cortex-A55, running at 1.7GHz. This dynamic blend ensures a seamless user experience.

Graphics and Memory Options

The Motorola foldable phone’s graphical prowess will be driven by the Adreno 616 GPU. Motorola intends to offer two RAM and storage configurations for users to choose from: 4GB+64GB or 6GB+128GB, catering to diverse needs.

Diving into the Display

A focal point of intrigue is the device’s display. The primary screen will feature a 6.2-inch OLED folding display, boasting a resolution of 876×2142 pixels. When folded, it transforms into a secondary display with a resolution of 600×800 pixels.

Secondary Screen Features

Reports suggest that the secondary display may offer limited functionalities. Pre-installed apps like Moto Display, Moto Action, and Moto Camera will be readily available. Additionally, this secondary display doubles as a trackpad, facilitating smooth navigation through web pages on Chrome and various social media apps. Users will also have the option to display up to six Quick Setting tiles on this screen, although customization remains uncertain.

Motorola’s upcoming foldable phone seems to be packing a blend of innovation, nostalgia, and practicality, leaving tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting its official launch.
