Ambani has vowed to establish a computing capacity of up to 2,000 MW, equipped for AI, spanning cloud and edge locations.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, has affirmed Jio Platforms’ dedication to spearheading the development of AI models and solutions tailored for India. These AI-powered advancements are aimed at benefitting Indian citizens, businesses, and the government, as Ambani emphasized during the 46th AGM of Reliance Industries. Underlining AI as a pivotal growth frontier, Ambani disclosed ambitious plans for the future. He assured the creation of up to 2,000 MW of AI-capable computing capacity, distributed across cloud and edge locations, all while prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Ambani expressed that the global AI revolution is rapidly reshaping industries and societies, and that intelligent applications are set to redefine daily life sooner than anticipated. Stressing India’s need to harness AI for competitiveness, innovation, and national prosperity, Ambani made a promise akin to Jio’s broadband connectivity pledge.
He stated that Jio will not only bring AI to everyone, everywhere, but also enhance its talent pool and capabilities to integrate the latest global AI innovations, including generative AI advancements. Ambani noted India’s potential in terms of scale, data, and talent, while highlighting the necessity for robust digital infrastructure capable of supporting AI’s computational demands.
Over the forthcoming five years, the plan is to transition a significant portion of energy consumption in connectivity and digital services to green energy, embodying both eco-friendliness and cost-efficiency.
