OLED Displays Expected in Next Generation of iPad Pro Instead of LED Panels.
In early 2024, Apple is set to upgrade its iPad Pro lineup with new display technology and a chipset, according to analyst Mark Gurman. The upcoming models will maintain two sizes, with the larger iPad featuring a 13-inch OLED display and a potential upgraded M3 SoC. These OLED displays are known for their vibrant colors and battery efficiency.
Gurman’s Power On newsletter doesn’t emphasize significant design changes but suggests a refreshed Magic Keyboard accessory that resembles a laptop setup with a larger trackpad.
This major iPad Pro upgrade comes as Apple, like other tablet manufacturers, faces declining sales due to global drops in PC and tablet shipments. The iPad Pro lineup has also been criticized for potential customer confusion in distinguishing between iPads and Macs, despite differences in touch screen and software experience. The price disparity between the two Pro models further complicates the choice.
Apple’s next significant launch is speculated to happen on September 12, including new iPhone models (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro) with USB-C ports and a potential new display notch. New Watch models are also anticipated. An additional launch in October might introduce the first M3 Macs, possibly as a smaller event.
